CMS successfully advises MERBAG on the acquisition of Wiesenthal in Austria

20/12/2019

The Swiss "Mercedes-Benz Automobil AG" (MERBAG) is acquiring the Austrian "Wiesenthal Handel und Service GmbH" (Mercedes). Binding documentation was signed on 17 December, and the closing is anticipated for June 2020. The international law firm CMS is advising MERBAG on all legal aspects of the acquisition of a total of six branch locations and the service and fleet management provider "Mo'Drive".

"We are very pleased to have been able to support MERBAG in its expansion into the Austrian market," says lead partner Alexander Rakosi.

In addition to Alexander Rakosi (Partner, Corporate/M&A), the core team consists of Marie-Christine Lidl (Associate, Corporate/M&A) and, on property law aspects, Johannes Hysek (Partner, Real Estate) and Mariella Kapoun (Attorney at Law, Real Estate). In addition, support is provided by an interdisciplinary team comprising Jens Winter (Partner, Employment Law), Dominik Stella (Associate, Employment Law) and Robert Keisler (Partner, Public Law). Dieter Zandler (Partner) and Vanessa Horacek (Associate) also advise on aspects of competition law. MERBAG Client Relationship Partner Stefan Brunnschweiler (CMS Zurich, Partner Corporate/M&A) supported the transaction from the Swiss perspective.

MERBAG, the Swiss market leader in Mercedes-Benz retail, is adopting all 538 employees and successfully continuing its international expansion policy with this purchase.
