Sofía is a senior associate and has been part of the Corporate/M&A Group at CMS Carey & Allende since 2018. Her practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, corporate law, private equity and contracts. Sofía's experience includes advising local and foreign clients on national and cross-border legal matters, as well as multi-jurisdictional transactions.

Prior to joining CMS Chile, Sofía worked at Allen & Overy LLP (2018) and DLA Piper UK LLP (2017-2018), both in Germany.

Relevant experience

SGS, a leading Swiss multinational in analysis, inspection, and certification, on the acquisitions of Control de Emisiones SpA (CONEMI), a Chilean joint-stock corporation specializing in water monitoring and environmental surveillance in southern Chile, and Skyclope Solar SpA, a Chilean company that primarily provides services to the photovoltaic solar energy sector.
Comercial Pacific, on the sale of its conveyor and power transmission belts manufacturing and distribution business unit to its main supplier, Habasit.
Mérieux NutriSciences Chile on the acquisition of Viamed Technical Laboratory SpA, a laboratory specialized in the detection of drug residues and chemical contaminants in food for human and animal consumption and leaders in the aquaculture market.
General Catalyst, a US Venture Capital firm that focuses on early-stage and growth investments, mainly in the healthcare industry, to lead the Series A financing round for Examedi for USD 17 million.
Merieux Chile, on the acquisition of Tracelab SpA, a laboratory that offers specialized analytical services to the salmon industry in Chile, expanding its presence in the Chilean market for salmon farming and feed producers.
Laboratorios Sanfer (Invekra Group), a Mexican pharmaceutical company, on the acquisition of a controlling interest in Laboratorio Pasteur S.A., a seasoned pharmaceutical company in the Chilean market.
Blackstone Group, a US multinational private equity firm, on the acquisition of an indirect shareholding in the US investment fund FRS Capital. As a result, Blackstone obtained an indirect shareholding in Carrix Inc., leading container terminal operator in the Americas, as well as in Asia, New Zealand and South Africa.
Participation on the team that advised SICK on the incorporation in Chile of a joint venture with the local company E. i. Schädler y Cía. Ltda. in order to establish a technical assistance centre for South America.
Participation on the team that advised Alsea, a Mexican company, on the acquisition of a majority stake in Starbucks Coffee Chile and Starbucks Coffee Argentina.
Participation on the team that advised General Motors on the acquisition of the operations of Ally Financial, Inc. in Latin America, Europe and China.
