Shanghai – The Chinese Yongfeng Group has acquired the German Bürkle Group, a prefabricated construction enterprise including Baustoffhandel Walther Bürkle GmbH & Co KG, Betonwerk Bürkle GmbH & Co KG, Bürkle Kellerbau GmbH + Co. KG and the Swiss company Bürkle Kellerbau GmbH.
An international CMS team headed by lead partners Dr Christoph Schroeder and Dr Henrik Drinkuth advised Yongfeng on all aspects relevant to the transaction.
Yongfeng is based in Qihe near Jinan, the capital of Shandong province. The company produces steel and iron ore and operates in the construction and real estate sectors. The group’s business also covers education, municipal services, trade, logistics and financial investment. With approximately 11,000 employees, Yongfeng generated a turnover of over CNY 50 billion (EUR 6.38 billion) in 2018, making it one of China’s top 500 companies. The transaction is the group’s first overseas acquisition.
Based in Sasbach, the Bürkle Group has a history of over 60 years. It has been a family-owned enterprise until now. The former owner of the group, Johannes Bürkle, will stay on as managing director.
