CMS has advised PPF banka a.s. on the financing of the Delta Ange battery energy storage system (BESS), a landmark cross-border project involving Czech and Swedish entities. The financing supports Ånge Storage Solution AB (Sweden) as borrower, with Delta Ange Holding s.r.o acting as parent, to construct and operate a 70-MW/160-MWh battery storage facility in Sweden’s Västernorrland County.
The Delta Ange BESS-project, located in the municipality of Ånge, is set to become one of the largest energy storage sites in Scandinavia. Strategically positioned near the Alby Hydrogen project and Enlight Renewable Energy’s 372-MW Björnberget wind farm, the facility will significantly enhance grid flexibility and support the integration of renewable energy sources.
The transaction was made possible through the financial backing of WOOD & Co., a leading European investment bank and asset manager. The project is part of WOOD & Co. Renewables Subfund, a qualified investor fund focused on developing renewable energy assets across the EU.
CMS’s role in the transaction underscores its expertise in structuring and negotiating complex, multi-jurisdictional financings. The CMS team provided end-to-end support throughout the process.
The CMS team was led by Petra Mysakova, Partner and Head of Banking & Finance in the Czech Republic, and included associate David Bujgl, and lawyer Matej Eberle, working in close collaboration with the CMS Wistrand team in Sweden - partners, Kristofer Selvin, Hendrik Kangasmuukko, and associate Irma Fricke.
The project highlights CMS’s ongoing commitment to supporting clients in the energy transition and sustainable infrastructure. The Delta Ange BESS facility will play a key role in enhancing grid stability and advancing renewable energy integration in the region.
