Nancy is a Partner in the Property & Real Estate Department of the Firm and an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.

Nancy obtained her Bachelor of Laws and Human Resource Management (LLB, Second Class Honours (Upper Division) degree from the University of Keele, United Kingdom in the year 2009. She then went on to obtain her Masters of Law (LLM) in International Commercial Law from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom in the year 2010 and was admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya in 2014.

Nancy’s primary area of practice is real estate/property, construction and probate/administration of Kenyan Estate matters. She has been involved in the negotiating, drafting/preparation and reviewing of commercial and residential leases, sale and purchase of commercial and residential property agreements, joint venture agreements, transfers and charging (mortgaging) of land, security bank documents i.e. charges and debentures etc. , wills, applications for probate/estate administration i.e. petitions for grant of letters of administration and grant of probate of written wills, advising on landlord and tenant laws, conducting due diligence exercises.

Relevant experience

 

  • Acting for the European Union delegation in Kenya in the negotiation and structure of their long-term lease acquisition in connection with the relocation of its Kenyan headquarters to Dunhill Towers, Waiyaki Way, Nairobi.
  • Acting for RMA Motors Kenya Limited in the negotiation and structure of the transfer/assignment of their lease for their main showroom in Nairobi and various other leases in connection with the sale of its Kenyan Jaguar Land Rover business to Inchcape Group of the UK.
  • Acting for a well-known Charitable Foundation in its acquisition of a site/property at Albizzia Downs Estate for establishment of an Academy. 
  • Acting for a well-known high-rise, high-end residential developer in their in the development known as Sandy Shores Apartments in Kilifi. Work included drafting of the letter of offers, agreements for sale, leases and management agreement, in respect of the sale of apartments in the development, and the subsequent sale of these apartments to various purchasers.
  • Advising a private client in connection with their acquisition of a local corporate undertaking the development of a high-end residential suites/penthouses development.
  • Acting for a Property Development Management company in the acquisition of a prime piece of land for purposes of redevelopment into high end residential apartments. 
  • Structuring and advising on various property portfolios and the subsequent leasing of commercial offices/shops/restuarants in buildings including: Delta Corner; Delta Corner Club House; West End Towers, Capital Center, Valley Arcade, The Yaya Center, The ABC Place and Towers.
  • Provision of legal advisory services to various clients undertaking property and land acquisitions and disposals (commercial, residential, industrial, agricultural) in Kenya and generally advising clients on legal issues arising thereof.
  • Preparation of wills, both local and foreign and applications for probate/administration of Kenyan Estates.
