CMS strengthens its teams in Vienna and CEE with another round of partner promotions

Press release - 5 February 2024

CMS Reich-Rohrwig Hainz is pleased to announce the appointment of four outstanding lawyers as partners. With Mariella Kapoun and Georg Gutfleisch (both from CMS Austria) and Amela Žrt and Ivan Kranjec (both from CMS Slovenia), the partner level will be expanded by four successful lawyers as of 1 February.

The two new partners in Vienna have been advising on real estate, construction and transactions for many years and will help CMS to have one of the best teams in this field.

Mariella Kapoun, an expert in real estate and construction law, was voted one of the "14 under 40" by JUVE just last year – and has now been appointed partner at CMS in Vienna. Her clear specialisation in real estate law, including sustainable investments, as well as her innovative approach to digitalisation and the integration of new technologies such as blockchain into legal practice have contributed significantly to this career step.

Georg Gutfleisch was appointed partner due to his significant expertise in real estate transactions and construction projects in Austria and CEE. His focus on real estate transactions combined with renewable energy and ESG, as well as his achievements in groundbreaking and innovative projects in this area, puts him in a pioneering role within the firm. He will continue to strengthen this area of expertise as a partner.

As one of the leading law firms in Austria and CEE, CMS also announces two new partners in Slovenia.

Amela Žrt is recognised for her extensive experience in labour and data protection law. Her expertise and dedication is demonstrated by her work advising numerous international clients on a wide range of employment matters and her role as head of the respective departments in Ljubljana.

Ivan Kranjec, one of the leading tax experts and head of the tax department in Ljubljana, has also been promoted to partner of the firm. His extensive experience in advising on complex tax matters, in particular cross-border transactions and restructurings, has contributed significantly to the development of the firm's tax expertise.

Günther Hanslik and Johannes Juranek, Managing Partners of CMS Reich-Rohrwig Hainz, said: "Our firm is committed to fostering excellent expertise and exceptional dedication and to supporting the growth of new legal talent. Each new partner has demonstrated a strong commitment to the interests of our clients and the legal profession. The current promotions reflect not only professional achievement, but also the firm's continued investment in our team members. We look forward to the next steps in the careers of Mariella, Georg, Amela und Ivan. Their dedication, expertise and innovative thinking embody the values we cherish at CMS."

At CMS Reich-Rohrwig Hainz, clients benefit from deep local roots and a strong international presence. The firm's primary goal is to provide top-quality legal services in a wide range of practice areas. The latest promotions demonstrate the firm's commitment to strengthening its team with talented individuals who share its culture of excellence and high standards of client service.
