Katja heads the Employment & Pensions Practice Group and the Technology, Media & Communications Sector Group of CMS in the Netherlands. She advises (international) companies about high profile employment law related matters such as (cross-border) outsourcing and transfer of undertaking, collective/individual dismissals, co-determination, trade unions and collective bargaining agreements, expatriate matters and remunerations. She is a frequent litigator on topics as transfer of undertaking and high profile dismissals. She is a trusted advisor, enjoys connecting with her clients and supporting them on a strategic decisions. Her focus allows her to advise her clients on the impact of technology on work. She has a pragmatic and very straightforward approach when advising her clients, helping them to make the right decisions.

Katja is actively involved in the partnership of CMS in the Dutch Blockchain Coalition where she heads the Human Capital Agenda. The DBC is a public private cooperation and a leading organization in the Netherlands on the expansion and usage of blockchain in the Netherlands.

Relevant experience

  • Advised an international chemical and transportation company on the cross-border restructuring of its activities. The advice included cross-border transfer of undertaking of employees within the EU, negotiations with trade unions and works council on terms and redundancies, coordination of work streams of the five affected jurisdictions.
  • Advised the European Commission on the legal aspects of a possible transfer of undertaking in light of an international tender process involving five jurisdictions including coordinating these work streams. Overall lead on employment, procurement, IT, IP and corporate advice presented.
  • Employment lead for Advance Publications in its acquisition of the shares of Stage Entertainment.
  • Advising Accor with regard to co-determination topics related to various types of national and cross-border transactions.
