Key contact
At CMS, we are committed to ethical and sustainable business practices. Corporate social responsibility therefore plays a central role in all our business processes. However, we believe we can and want to do more to make the world a better place for everyone. Through various initiatives and projects across our entire organisation, we leverage our talents, geographical reach and resources to positively impact the communities in which we work and live.
Social Responsibility
Giving back to the communities in which we work and live, as well as protecting the environment, are key pillars of our business strategy. CMS increases its social impact through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Throughout the year, CMS employees can participate in various activities and work on pro bono cases offered through our partnerships.
NL Cares
NL Cares inspires people and companies to use their time, skills, and resources to contribute to a better world. Through their network, they provide concrete tools that ensure everyone can make a social impact. Together with NL Cares, CMS helps support vulnerable groups with enjoyable team activities.
Pro Bono Connect
Pro Bono Connect is the go-to intermediary in the Netherlands between social organisations that need legal assistance and law firms that wish to provide free legal advice. Together with Pro Bono Connect, CMS helps NGOs with legal questions related to their organisation's objectives or with issues that are of strategic importance to their organization. This could include specific matters such as employment law, tax, or establishing a new foundation.
Médecins Sans Frontières
CMS has a partnership with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), also known as Doctors Without Borders. This international medical humanitarian organization provides emergency medical aid in areas affected by crises such as war or natural disasters, when people's lives are at risk and healthcare facilities have been destroyed, or when there is insufficient care for certain demographic groups.
At CMS, we are aware of our responsibility to help shape a sustainable future. This is why we are part of the United Nation’s Global Compact.
The UN Global Compact is the world's largest corporate social responsibility initiative. It has around 13,000 corporate participants and other stakeholders in over 170 countries. It supports companies in adopting a values-based approach to doing business and in concordance with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
CMS is committed to meeting responsibilities in four areas: human rights, labour, environment and anti-corruption. In annual Communication of Progress reports, we outline the activities we are undertaking to operate responsibly and in support of society.
Our clients and our people value working with and for a firm that upholds sustainability standards and being part of the UN Global Compact demonstrates our commitment.
At CMS, we understand the importance of preserving the environment and taking action to tackle climate change.
With this goal in mind, we strive to decrease our own environmental footprint, both internally in our offices as well as through the way we work and across our supply chains.
Some of the initiatives that we are undertaking across our organisation to make our business operations more sustainable include:
- measuring and analysing our greenhouse emissions as well as setting goals for emission reduction
- reducing our energy consumption and producing renewable energy
- reducing waste, eliminating the usage of plastic where possible and recycling paper and glass
- optimising our employees’ daily commute and promoting eco-mobility to cut down our carbon footprint
- replacing business travel with virtual meetings where possible and compensating for emissions
- working with sustainable suppliers and energy efficient equipment
- raising awareness for sustainability within our organisation
