For the first time, Serbia has introduced licencing requirements for natural gas traders using its transmission system as a transit route. Previously, no such licence was required. However, recent amendments to the Energy Law, adopted in November 2024, now mandate that traders obtain a wholesale natural gas supply licence by 6 December 2025.
