Dušan Vanek is a senior associate in the Real Estate & Construction team at CMS Bratislava. He specialises in advising national and international clients on real estate and construction projects, including greenfield and brownfield projects, sale and leaseback transactions, and the acquisition, sale, development and leasing of real estate assets, both locally and cross-border.

He also has extensive experience in representing clients on related contentious issues in local courts, especially in matters related to leasing, permitting, administrative and environmental issues.
Before joining CMS in 2017, Dušan worked at leading international law firms both in Slovakia and the United States.

Relevant experience

  • IAD Investments as the buyer on the acquisition of 100% of shares in the Luxembourg company HB Reavis Investment Management S.à r.l., which manages the fund HB Reavis CE REIF, from the seller HBR IM Holding Ltd. 
  • Západoslovenská energetika on the sale of its real estate assets and subsequent construction (including the lease-back of part of the premises) and purchase of its new headquarters building in Bratislava ̉s new downtown by the leading local development company Immocap. 
  • MOL Group on the Slovak stream of its sale of 183 service stations in Hungary and Slovakia to PKN Orlen for EUR 229m.
  • VGP on the Slovak stream of VGP´s cross-border acquisition of project companies.
  • MH Invest on the transactional documentation for the sale of an industrial park site in Piešťany to Porsche Werkzeugbau s. r. o.
  • A major international automotive manufacturer on its potential EUR 1bn+ investment in Slovakia regarding the building of its third European manufacturing facility.
  • Vaillant GmbH on greenfield investment projects in Slovakia for the construction of a production plant to manufacture heat pumps and other related investment projects.
  • A major British automotive manufacturer on its GBP 1bn+ investment in setting up its business in Slovakia, including construction and permitting phases enabling a plant to begin operating as scheduled.
  • IAD Investments on daily asset management matters regarding lease agreements on its project SPVs owning the buildings Steinerka, Twin City A, Twin City B and Twin City C. 
  • Beauty Retailer on leasing advice for its premises in shopping malls across Slovakia and its further expansion to other major shopping malls in Slovakia.
  • Sports Retailer on leasing advice for its premises in shopping malls across Slovakia and its further expansion to other major shopping malls in Slovakia.
