Dušan Vanek is an associate in the Real Estate & Construction and Corporate teams at CMS Bratislava. He is experienced at advising clients on public procurement projects (PPP), real estate and finance projects, corporate, tax and state aid matters. In particular, he regularly advises national and international clients on real estate M&A, leasing and sales. 

Dušan also has significant sector expertise; he advises major players in the automotive sector on both contentious and non-contentious matters, and frequently acts for prominent retail & consumer goods companies in relation to their operations in Slovakia. 

Prior to joining CMS in 2017, Dušan worked at leading international law firms both in Slovakia and the United States.

Relevant experience

  • Slovak asset management company IAD Investments (IAD) on its successful acquisition of the STEIN2 Offices in Bratislava from MiddleCap Real Estate. The transaction was one of the largest recent real estate transactions in Slovakia.
  • Gramercy Europe, acting through its fund Gramercy Property Europe III, on its successful acquisition of the KiK Logistics Centre near Dunajská Streda, Slovakia, from Go Asset and ECE European City Estates.
  • An Asian investment company on the acquisition of two substantial logistics parks in the west and central regions of Slovakia from a major US developer of real estate logistics properties.
  • An international private joint-stock company active predominantly in the energy sector, on due diligence and advice regarding refinancing construction works on seven hydro plants.
  • A German luxury car manufacturer on its potential investment in the country, including drafting all relevant documentation concerning the investment, state aid, contracts with suppliers and all relevant contracts relating to the new business. 
  • International fashion retailer Primark on opening its new flagship store in Bratislava and negotiation of the lease and future lease agreements.
  • A multinational automotive company on corporate and real estate matters concerning its investment of over GBP 1 billion in Slovakia. This included obtaining all the required permits on time and ensuring production commenced as planned and representing the client before the courts in various litigations arising from permitting, construction and environmental matters.
  • The Government of Slovakia on preparing a tender for the planning, construction, operation and facility management aspects of a prison.
