Lars-Olof Svensson is a senior counsel in CMS Wistrand’s practice group Dispute resolution and specializes in in insolvency, insurance and arbitration, where he presented his Master’s thesis at the Universidade de Lisboa in May 2022, Remote Hearings in International Arbitration and Due Process or the Right to be Heard. With 42 of experience, he has extensive experience in advising fund managers, private equity firms, insurance and reinsurance companies, telecom multinationals, steel industry, audit firms and property owners and developers on commercial law, including mergers and acquisitions as well as commercial litigation and arbitration.
Lars-Olof Svensson has notably led the insolvency run off of Svenska Kredit, the biggest insolvency case in Sweden involving foreclosure of properties held as security and claims adjustment of reinsurance claims in the amount of several 100 million euros and represents a broad range of clients, including banks, insurance and reinsurance companies.
He has a rich history of prior experience and held positions ranging from Associate to Senior Associate and Partner at various law firms, including Tisell’s law firm and Sten Lindskog’s law firm as well as CMS Rui Pena & Arnaut in Lisbon.
Additionally, Lars-Olof Svensson has contributed to legal education through guest lectures at Stockholm School of Economics on restructuring and at Stockholm University, Law Faculty, on civil procedural law. He has three reported cases from the Supreme Court, NJA 1987 p.535, NJA 2005 p.443 and NJA 2016 p.609. He has authored published articles on insurance law.
