On 27 May 2009, changes were made to the customs clearance procedure for goods entering Ukraine, including:
- making the State Committee for Technical Regulation and Consumer Policy (Derzhspozhivstandart) responsible for deciding of the list of controlled goods that are subject to certification when imported into Ukraine
- not making controlled goods subject to certification when their description or custom code matches those specified by Derzhspozhivstandart
- authorising Derzhspozhivstandart to decide which goods delivered under a contract are exempt from the certification procedure
Under the new rules, once the relevant certificates are granted by Derzhspozhivstandart, they will be valid for the term of the contract. Previously, importers had to obtain certificates for each consignment of the same goods under the same contract.
