Iryna Barlit is a senior associate in the Banking & Finance practice at CMS Ukraine. Iryna’s experience includes advising international commercial and state banks and other financial institutions on banking and finance transactions, including project finance in various sectors of the Ukrainian economy, such as agriculture, infrastructure and renewable energy. Iryna graduated from Wroclaw University, LL.M. European and International Law with a specialisation in Business Law.

Iryna has deep expertise in project finance, structured lending, and infrastructure development across Europe and emerging markets. During her secondment to the European Investment Bank (EIB), Iryna worked closely with internal and external stakeholders on the legal structuring, negotiation, and execution of high-impact infrastructure and development finance projects.

Iryna’s strong knowledge, combined with practical experience in high-profile financial transactions and cross-border projects, enables her to provide clear legal and commercially oriented advice tailored to the needs of clients particularly in cross-border and development finance transactions.

  • European Investment Bank on a EUR 300m loan agreement with Naftogaz Group to finance the purchase of natural gas, build long-term strategic reserves, and ensure stable winter supplies for households and businesses across Ukraine
  • A syndicate of International Finance Institutions including European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, International Finance Corporation and Black Sea Trade and Development Bank, on EUR 157m financing provided to OKKO Group for the construction and operation of a private wind power project that aims to boost Ukraine’s energy security
  • European Bank for Reconstruction and Development on Ukrainian and English law aspects of a USD 25m senior loan to Varus Group, one of the leading food retail chains in Ukraine
  • ING Bank N.V. on yet another pre-export finance facility provided to a leading Ukrainian agricultural group
  • European Bank for Reconstruction and Development on EUR 22m loan to international pharmaceutical companies, Farmak Group Limited (Cyprus) and JSC Farmak (Ukraine)
  • ING-led syndicate of international banks, including the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Crédit Agricole - Corporate Investment Bank (CACIB), and Dutch development bank FMO, on the restructuring of Nibulon’s pre-export credit facility (PXF)
  • Arise AB on its acquisition of a 70% stake in Norway and Ukraine-focused renewables developer Fenix Repower AS in a bid to diversify its business technologically and gain a foothold in the Ukrainian market
  • ING-led syndicate of international banks on an adjustment to the loan repayment terms under the USD 450m pre-export facility for Ukraine’s Kernel Group
  • a consortium led by NJJ Holding, the investment firm owned by Xavier Niel, founder of European telecom group Iliad and U.S. private equity firm Horizon Capital, on the landmark acquisition of Datagroup-Volia, Ukraine’s leading fixed telecom and pay TV provider, and Lifecell, the country’s third-largest and fastest-growing mobile operator
  • Bank Pekao S.A. and KUKE S.A. on an export credit financing granted by Bank Pekao S.A. and insured by KUKE S.A. in relation to the development of the solar photovoltaic plant in Ukraine
  • Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego and KUKE S.A.:
    • on an export credit financing granted by BGK and insured by KUKE in relation to the development of the Nikolsky shopping mall in Kharkiv and
    • on EUR 41.1m construction financing of a shopping mall and office centre in Kyiv
  • European Investment Bank on €50mn financing for Ukraine’s on its significant investment in a landmark IT project
  • Export-Import Bank of Korea (KEXIM), an export credit bank from South Korea, on extending its secured USD $36 million financing to Grain Terminal Holdings in Ukraine
  • PrimoCollect Group on successfully securing approval from the National Bank of Ukraine (the NBU) for the acquisition of a substantial shareholding in Tiger Finance, a leading non-banking financial company in Ukraine
  • DAI Global (USAID) and the National Securities and the Stock Markets Commission of Ukraine on the most important element of securities infrastructure for the capital markets in Ukraine – rules for clearing transactions with securities and licensing terms for clearing institutions
  • ING Bank N.V. (ING) on a USD 100m three-year syndicated pre-export finance facility for Nibulon S.A (Nibulon), one of Ukraine’s leading agribusiness companies
