Jorge is a partner in the Corporate/M&A Group at CMS Carey & Allende. He is highly active in financing and M&A operations for aquaculture, concessionaires, mining and electric generation / transmission companies. A practice to highlight is Jorge’s participation in complex financial restructurings, providing particular knowledge in various economic sectors.

As head of the Mining Group, he has participated in various mining projects over the past 25 years, including El Tesoro, Esperanza, Spence, Radomiro Tomic, Andacollo, Collahuasi, Maricunga, Diego de Almagro, Bronce de Petorca, Can-Can, Vilacollo, and Cocar, among others.

His experience is complemented by his knowledge and experience in areas such as engineering and construction, representing some of the most important engineering and construction firms in Latin America, such as Ausenco, Aker Solutions, Jacobs and Samsung Engineering, in the restructuring, negotiation, execution, and closing of EPC and EPCM contracts related to the aforementioned projects.

Jorge has also represented internationally renowned companies such as suppliers of equipment/software for the defence industry, negotiating contract conditions and financing related to them, where a strict level of confidentiality and information security was required. He has also represented the Government of Chile in the acquisition and operation of a satellite observation system.

Relevant experience

Clients of our firm such as Goldman Sachs have entrusted him with matters related to corporate social responsibility policy, such as the acquisition of 275,000 hectares of forest land in Tierra del Fuego for conservation purposes. This park is known today as Karukinka Reserve. He also advised Citi Infrastructure Investments in the acquisition of six infrastructure concessions in Chile, as well as their subsequent sale to European operators.

Jorge is a partner in the Energy & Climate Change Group at CMS Carey & Allende. He provides advisory services on projects for new transmission lines, power generation, and non-conventional renewable energy source projects. In these matters, he has been able to participate in the earliest stages of these projects, until their entry into operation, as well as in financing, M&A and private equity related to them.

He also participates in the Corporate/M&A Practice Group of our firm, being highly active in financing and M&A operations for aquaculture, concession and mining.
