Episode 4: “The courage to Be True: A story about Identity and Purpose” – Susana Videgaray
Dione+ Podcast
“It has been an extremely long and challenging journey in my life, but ultimately a fulfilling one, in the sense that I am finally able to live as I truly am.”
Susana Videgaray, a lawyer and legal adviser at the pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly, shares her life story with moving honesty. From her childhood in a conservative environment, marked by a profound dissonance between her identity and social expectations, to the transition process that transformed her life, Susana takes us through a narrative of resilience, inner struggle and, ultimately, peace.
For decades, she built a professional and family life that conformed to social standards, yet lived without truly finding herself. It was only in adulthood, after beginning a therapeutic process, that she was able to name her identity as a transgender woman. From that moment, she embarked on a complex journey of personal acceptance, family changes and redefining her place in the professional world.
With generosity, Susana shares the fears she faced — including the fear of losing her job or being rejected — and how access to support networks, peer groups and transgender role models was key to moving forward.
This episode of Dione+ is not only about identity and transition, but also about leadership, coherence and personal transformation. An invitation to reflect on the power of being oneself and the profound impact that respect has on people’s lives.
