The China National Intellectual Property Administration (“CNIPA”) released the Certain Provisions for Regulating Applications for Trademark Registration (Draft for Comments) (the “Provisions”) on 12 February 2019. The Provisions once enacted, aim to provide concrete legal basis and standards to curb trademarks filed in bad faith (bad faith applications) and trademark squatting.
