His practice primarily focuses on structured finance, restructuring and insolvency, as well as related arbitration and dispute resolution.

Relevant experience

  • A leading film and entertainment company (primarily engaged in film production business) as borrower on the amendment and restatement of a senior facilities agreement to be used for general corporate purposes, comprising an HKD 350m term loan facility, and an SGD 10m revolving facility.
  • The borrower group on a mezzanine syndicated development financing relating to the Taipei Sky Tower Project (the building becomes the second tallest building in Taipei) comprising an USD 80m term loan facility with an accordion option in the amount up to USD 40m.
  • A securitisation deal where a special purpose vehicle was financing the origination of Hong Kong owner-occupied residential mortgage loans through an HKD 800m senior revolving facility, alongside HKD 150m mezzanine and HKD 50m junior tranches, secured over the mortgage pool and administered by an agent and security trustee.
  • The originator and issuer in the first rated Hong Kong RMBS securitisation issuance in over 20 years. The notes were rated Aa2(sf) and A3(sf) by Moody’s,
  • A leading PRC state-owned bank on the successful workout of the Tsingshan-LME nickel commodity derivatives crisis. The deal won “Cross-border deals of the year 2022” by China Business Law Journal.
  • Successfully acted for the bank to recover in excess of HKD 28m under an indemnity deed. (ICBC International Wealth Investment Ltd v Rollcash Investments Ltd [2023] HKCFI 2585)
  • A PRC client in an HKIAC administered arbitration concerning a contractual dispute in the value of approximately EUR 25m.
  • Successfully represented client in a contested proceedings in relation to appointment of liquidators of China Oceanwide Holdings Limited (HCCW 370/2023)
  • Successfully obtained RMB 250m for the Petitioner in a bankruptcy proceedings (HCB 5043/2025)
  • A PRC SOE client in an HKIAC administered arbitration arising out of a shareholders’ dispute in the value of approximately USD 35m. 
  • A PRC SOE client in successfully negotiating a settlement agreement with a major international bank. 
  • Enforcement of Mainland arbitral award made under CIETAC rules and Mainland judgment in Hong Kong court. 
  • A Japanese client in a Hong Kong winding-up proceedings.
  • A PRC securities firm in bankruptcy claims against various individuals in Hong Kong. 
  • A winding-up proceedings against an asset management company in Hong Kong in respect of debts of approximately USD 1.5m.
