Shitul is a Partner in the Nairobi Office. He is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, an English Solicitor and a New York Attorney. He has over 18 years of experience practicing law in both Kenya and England. 

Shitul deals with mergers & acquisitions, capital markets, asset and share purchases, corporate trustee services, business restructuring, intellectual property, joint ventures, management buyouts, franchising, management and operation and general corporate and commercial matters. Relevant experience

  • Acting for the Bombay Stock Exchange listed Bharti Airtel Group in connection with the proposed merger of Airtel Kenya (Kenya’s second largest mobile telecommunications operator) with Telkom Kenya (Kenya’s third largest mobile telecommunications operator), undertaking the legal due diligence and advising on regulatory, compliance, competition and general commercial law aspects  of this transaction in Kenya.
  • Acting for a Nairobi Securities Exchange listed insurer in connection with the proposed separation of its long term insurance business from its short term insurance business. Drafting the transaction documentation and dealing with all regulatory aspects.
  • Acting for London Stock Exchange listed De La Rue Plc Group in connection with the sale of its identity solutions business in Kenya to the Stockholm Nasdaq Stock Exchane listed Assa Abloy Group.
  • Acting for RMA Motors Kenya in connection with the sale of its Jaguar LandRover business in Kenya to London Stock Exchange listed Inchcape Group.
  • Advising the African Guarantee Fund for Small and Medium Size Enterprises in connection with various corporate bond issues and providing general commercial advisory services to the Fund in Kenya.
  • Providing corporate trustee services and advisory work to the Nairobi Securities Exchange listed Safaricom Plc and WPP Scangroup Plc in connection with their various employee share ownership schemes in Kenya.
