Oleksandr Sytnyk is a senior associate in the Commercial practice at CMS Ukraine, with over nine years’ experience. He combines strong competition, technology and regulatory expertise with a practical commercial approach, advising clients on commercial, corporate, technology, data protection, employment, IP and competition matters.

His competition practice covers merger control, concerted actions, preliminary conclusions from the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine, and day-to-day compliance with Ukrainian competition legislation, including distribution arrangements and vertical restraints. He has supported foreign and domestic clients in obtaining antimonopoly clearances for a broad range of transactions.

Oleksandr has extensive experience advising global technology companies, digital platforms, cloud service providers, fintech businesses and innovative technology-driven enterprises on market entry, commercial contracting, cloud computing regulation, data protection, employment and regulatory matters. His practice includes advising on complex cloud migration and data localisation issues, strategic cooperation initiatives with public authorities and the legal aspects of operating technology businesses in Ukraine.

Oleksandr also has a particular focus on the defence/defence technology sector, where he advises international defence manufacturers, major defence technology companies and dual-use businesses on establishing and structuring operations in Ukraine, incentive arrangements, export control and regulatory compliance issues, market entry projects and day-to-day commercial matters. He regularly supports clients in navigating the legal and regulatory framework applicable to defence-related activities and investment in Ukraine.

Oleksandr’s IP experience includes cross-border matters, licensing agreements, commercial concessions and transfers of IP assets, with a particular focus on the technology sector. He also supports foreign and domestic clients on IP issues arising during transactions.
