Parts of Alstom's gas turbine business are sold to Italy-based Ansaldo Energia. The carve-out of the gas turbine business was offered to the European Commission as remedy in the context of the sale of Alstom's power and grid businesses to General Electric which has been closed on 2 November 2015.
Following the sale of the power and grid businesses to General Electric, Alstom re-focuses on the development and marketing of systems, equipment and services for the railway sector. Alstom is a world leader in integrated railway systems.
A team of CMS von Erlach Poncet led by Zurich based M&A Partner Stefan Brunnschweiler advised Alstom on the Swiss legal aspects of the carve-out of the gas turbine business and related restructuring within the Alstom group.
