The European Commission authorised on 9 April 2020 the Flemish state guarantee scheme to support undertakings during the coronavirus outbreak. On 11 April 2020, the Commission approved the federal measure with a budget of EUR 50 billion. The schemes are based on the State aid Temporary Framework adopted by the Commission on 19 March 2020, and aim to help businesses cover immediate liquidity needs and continue their activities.
