Job Description
CMS is looking for a summer intern to strengthen its tax law team in Brussels.
Profile:
- You are completing a LLM at a Belgian university with the intention of following up with or, are currently completing, a specialized master in tax law
- You are fluent in French or Dutch and have a strong command of English
- You are passionate about (direct and indirect) taxes in the broadest sense with a specific interest in international tax matters (e.g. cross border transactions, structuring, transfer pricing) or in contentious tax (administrative or judiciary) matters
- You display team spirit and are eager to learn
- You have strong legal, analytical and communication skills
- You have a creative mind and are business-oriented and like to take initiatives
Main responsibilities:
- Assist the tax team in advising Belgian and international clients on direct and indirect tax matters
- Support the preparation and follow‑up of advance tax rulings and tax litigation files
- Contribute to advice on international tax issues, including transfer pricing, value chain optimization, beneficial ownership and substance requirements, and global restructurings
- Assist in tax advisory work for companies at various stages of their lifecycle, including listed companies and scale‑ups, particularly in the technology, life sciences and real estate sectors
- Support the team in advising high-net-worth individuals on tax structuring, investments and estate planning
- Conduct legal and tax research and assist in drafting memos, opinions and presentations
- Take part in the knowledge-sharing activities of the tax team, including academic publications, lectures and seminars
