Geoffroy Galéa is a Partner in the Tax practice of CMS Belgium and heads the practice.
He advises on complex and high-value tax matters, with a particular focus on cross-border M&A transactions, transfer pricing, tax structuring, real estate tax and tax litigation.
Geoffroy is recognised for his ability to handle sophisticated and high-stakes matters, combining strong technical expertise with a pragmatic, business-oriented approach. He works closely with multinational groups, investors and executives on strategic tax issues across a wide range of sectors, including private equity, technology, real estate and life sciences.
Geoffroy has developed extensive experience in both advisory and contentious tax matters.
His advisory work focuses on M&A transactions, business reorganisations and international tax structuring. He regularly assists clients with complex cross-border reorganisations, transfer pricing model design and optimisation, and strategic tax planning. His experience includes large-scale restructurings involving multi-jurisdictions groups and the structuring of investments, assets and activities for executives and shareholders.
On the contentious side, Geoffroy represents clients in tax audits, rulings and high-profile litigation before the Belgian courts and the European Court of Justice. His experience covers, among others, innovation tax incentives, transfer pricing, withholding tax and real estate tax disputes, including landmark cases.
He has also developed recognised expertise in tax policy matters, advising clients in their interactions with governmental authorities and contributing to legislative developments.
Geoffroy is a Professor of Corporate Taxation at the ICHEC Brussels Management School and at the Ecole Supérieure des Sciences Fiscales.
He is a regular lecturer and speaker on Belgian and international tax matters and has authored numerous publications in leading tax journals. He is also a permanent contributor to Wolters Kluwer (Actualités Fiscales) and a member of the examination cell from the Institute for Tax Advisors and Accountants.
