Vassilis Karantounias serves as an Of counsel in the Antitrust, Competition & Trade (ACT) and the Technology, Media & Communications (TMC) practice area groups at the CMS EU Law office in Brussels. He joined CMS in 2018. 

Vassilis has broad expertise in EU law as well as in Greek commercial and administrative law with strong background in litigation. He advises multinationals on EU law with a focus on export control and economic sanctions, public contracts, data protection, intellectual property, and regulatory affairs. 

Before joining CMS, Vassilis worked for 4 years in the European Commission, dealing inter alia with state aid, privatizations and structural reforms. From 2004 to 2013, Vassilis practiced law in Athens and was a corporate & litigation Partner to a top-tier Greek law firm. He has been repeatedly ranked and featured, in Chambers Global, Chambers Europe, The Legal 500 and IFLR1000, among best lawyers in Greece in the areas of dispute resolution, financial & corporate, real estate & construction and employment.
