Today, PET bottles can be recycled throughout Switzerland - but this is not so easy for many other plastic packaging or other plastics: Plastic waste collection is only offered by some shops - or sometimes on a local basis, for example with plastic collection bags for which a fee is charged. End of August, the association Swiss Recycling has now announced the introduction of a national collection and recycling system for the coming year. The initiative is supported by the four largest retailers in Switzerland and over 50 food and packaging manufacturers. It is to start in 2023. The exact date is not yet known.
