CMS advises Novelis on the Acquisition of Rolling Business Assets in Sierre, Switzerland, from Constellium
On 23 July 2018, Novelis Switzerland SA successfully completed the acquisition of aluminium rolling business assets located and of a 50% stake in the shared infrastructure in Sierre, Switzerland, for EUR 200 million, from Constellium Valais SA.
The assets, consisting of real estate, machinery and equipment, were previously leased by Constellium Valais to Novelis Switzerland. Both parties will continue their operations in Sierre. Concurrently with the asset sale, Constellium Valais contributed the Sierre site's shared infrastructure to a newly established 50-50 joint venture with Novelis Switzerland.
Novelis is the leading producer of flat-rolled aluminium products and the world’s largest recycler of aluminium.
Constellium is engaged in the aluminium plate and extrusions businesses for industry, aerospace and transportation applications.
A team of CMS led by André E. Lebrecht and Sibylle Schnyder provided extensive legal advice to Novelis in cooperation with Novelis’ US counsel Husch Blackwell.
