David Hofmann specialises in civil procedure as well as public and administrative law. He also practices in the field of lease law, construction, and urban planning.
David Hofmann graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Geneva in 1999. From 1999 to 2005 he worked as an Assistant to professors Andreas Auer, Giorgio Malinverni and Michel Hottelier in the Department of Constitutional Law at the University of Geneva. In 2005 he completed his academic studies with a PhD in law at the University of Geneva. David Hofmann then worked as a legal intern at the Court of First Instance and the law firm ZPG from September 2005 to 2007. He passed the Geneva Bar exam in 2007. In 2008 he joined the Geneva State Chancellery and held the position of Deputy Director in the Department of Legal Affairs (“Directeur supplement des affaires juridiques de la chancellerie d'Etat”) until 2013. David Hofmann joined CMS in January 2014.
David Hofmann is also a lecturer at the University of Geneva ("Elements of general public law" in 2012, 2013 and 2016 for the students of the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences; "Writing administrative judicial acts" at the Faculty of Law, Ecole d’Avocature, since 2011; module "Appeal and plea according to the CPC" since 2015).
He has been a member of the Geneva Bar Examination Commission since 2019.
