CMS Hasche Sigle advises ILB subsidiary BC Brandenburg Capital GmbH on investment in WIRKAUFENS

Berlin – BC Brandenburg Capital GmbH has taken a multi-million euro stake in Brandenburg-based re-commerce provider WIRKAUFENS in a round of financing. In addition to the existing French shareholder Ventech, the investors now include BC Brandenburg Capital GmbH with the funds it manages for BFB Wachstumsfonds Brandenburg GmbH and Unternehmensbeteiligungsgesellschaft der Sparkassen des Landes Brandenburg mbH, as well as PDV Inter-Media Venture GmbH of Augsburg.

WIRKAUFENS has become a popular portal for buying used electronics. The 250,000 customers attracted so far are mainly interested in mobile phones, smartphones, tablets, MacBooks, notebooks and digital cameras. WIRKAUFENS was established by Christian Wolf in his living room at the end of 2008. With more than 70 employees in Frankfurt and Berlin, wirkaufens.de is now one of the leading German re-commerce providers and started expanding into other parts of Europe in 2012. Its partners include Deutsche Telekom, the Otto Group, blau.de and simyo.

BC Brandenburg Capital GmbH (BC) is the holding company for several investment funds. It is a subsidiary of the business promotion bank of the Federal State of Brandenburg (ILB) and a stake is held by the KfW bank's tbg Technologie-Beteiligungs-Gesellschaft mbH. BC provides financial support for SMEs in Brandenburg at every stage of company development, focusing on growth and innovation. The six venture capital funds associated with BC are provided with public and private capital totalling EUR 150 million. BFB Wachstumsfonds Brandenburg is a fund operated by the Federal State of Brandenburg.
