The insolvency administrator of Gossen-Metrawatt GmbH i.I. and GMC-Instruments Holding GmbH i.I.,
Nürnberg, Dr Siegfried Beck, sold the Gossen-Metrawatt group to Berliner Capiton AG following an
open bidding procedure and negotiations with several interested parties, German and foreign.
Capiton acquired the entire company group together with the former Gossen-Metrawatt director Dr
Hans-Peter Opitz by way of a combined asset and share deal. An international team from CMS Hasche
Sigle led by Munich partner Dr Martin Erker advised the insolvency administrator on the
transaction. The Gossen-Metrawatt group operates across Europe as measurement and control
technology specialist with production sites in Nuremberg and Switzerland with an annual turnover of
more than EUR 60 million. Capiton is planning to retain all 450 jobs of the group, around 240 at
the domicile in Nuremberg.
