Dr Matthias Eck appointed honorary professor at Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg

Stuttgart – Dr Matthias Eck, partner with CMS Hasche Sigle and a lawyer in Stuttgart, has been appointed honorary professor for competition law and intellectual property at Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg.

Matthias Eck has been lecturing at Martin Luther University since 2004. The ZEIT Study Guide 2011/2012 ranked it the best state-run university for law in the categories support, revision courses and course situation.

In addition to his work as a lawyer and lecturer, Matthias Eck is also the author of a number of specialist publications. Examples of the standard texts to which he has contributed include the "Handbook of Competition Law" (Handbuch des Wettbewerbsrechts) and the "Munich Guide to Intellectual Property Legislation for Lawyers" (Münchener Anwaltshandbuch Gewerblicher Rechtsschutz), both published by C.H. Beck.

Matthias Eck studied law at the universities of Munich and Tübingen and wrote his dissertation at the Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property and Competition Law in Munich. He has been with CMS Hasche Sigle since 1992.

Matthias Eck's law practice covers intellectual property and competition law. He is an expert on the law relating to intellectual property. His work focuses on issues of patent law (including conducting patent infringement proceedings), trademark and competition law as well as marketing and advertising and protection against industrial espionage. Matthias Eck advises SMEs as well as national and international corporations.
