CMS Advises on Brookfield–Maori Capital Asia Cold Storage Platform
CMS has advised on the establishment of a joint venture platform dedicated to the development and management of cold storage real estate assets across Asia. The joint venture brings together Brookfield Asset Management and Maori Capital, an affiliate of Uni-China Group.
The CMS team also advised on the platform’s seed acquisition of a 246,000 sq. ft. industrial property in Tsing Yi, Hong Kong from Swire Properties, which will be redeveloped into a cold storage facility. The team also supported the construction aspects of the project.
The CMS team’s involvement highlights the firm’s integrated capabilities across real estate, corporate, finance, and construction disciplines.
Wayne Ma, who led the CMS team, commented: “This is a landmark step in building out Asia’s essential logistics infrastructure. Cold storage is a critical enabler of modern supply chains, and this platform will help meet accelerating demand across the region. We are proud to have supported a complex, multi-jurisdictional transaction from formation through acquisition, financing and construction, and to contribute to a project that will deliver long-term value for the sector and the communities it serves.”
