Clarification on Lost Title Deeds

1 min read

On this page

Via gazette notice no. 12436 of 2024 dated 26th September 2024, the Government Printer notified the public of the loss of 367 title deeds bearing serial numbers 5253001 to 525367.

In a follow-up statement by the Ministry of Lands, the Ministry clarified that the lost title deeds referred to in the gazette notice were in fact stolen security papers that are used in printing title deeds, and that they were not actual title deeds containing ownership and property details.

Going forward, purchasers are encouraged to be thorough when conducting their due diligence to ensure that the titles to properties they wish to purchase do not bear any of the affected serial numbers as the Government has excluded itself from any liability for any unauthorised transactions involving the affected title deeds.
