We Are Recruiting a Senior Associate – Banking & Finance (Financing & Regulatory)
As part of the continued growth of our Banking & Finance department, we are seeking a Senior Associate with 4 to 6 years of relevant experience. You will advise a diverse client base consisting of banks, financial institutions, investment funds, regulated entities and corporates on a broad range of financing, banking, financial services and regulatory matters. You will be involved in complex domestic and cross-border transactions, regulatory compliance projects and strategic advisory mandates, working closely with the partners and other practice groups of the firm. This position offers significant client exposure, a high level of responsibility and the opportunity to further develop your expertise within one of Monaco's leading Banking & Finance practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise clients on banking, financial and regulatory law matters.
- Conduct in-depth legal research and monitor regulatory developments.
- Draft legal opinions, memoranda, financing agreements, security documents and other legal documentation.
- Lead and manage financing transactions, including acquisition finance, real estate finance, corporate finance and restructuring matters.
- Assist clients with the implementation and perfection of security interests, including real estate security.
- Advise clients on capital markets transactions and investment products and services.
- Assist clients with the establishment, licensing and operation of regulated entities in Monaco.
- Advise clients on regulatory compliance, corporate governance, anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (AML/CFT) matters, as well as other financial services regulatory issues.
- Support clients in their dealings with regulatory authorities, including licensing applications, inspections, supervisory matters and disciplinary proceedings.
- Coordinate multi-jurisdictional transactions and collaborate with foreign counsel, regulatory authorities and other stakeholders where required.
- Participate in the supervision and training of junior associates.
- Contribute to the development of client relationships and the growth of the firm's Banking & Finance practice.
Candidate Profile
- Master's degree in Banking and Finance Law, Corporate/Business Law, or an equivalent qualification.
- 4 to 6 years of experience gained within a leading law firm, a financial institution, or another recognised organisation in the financial services sector.
- Strong expertise in banking and finance transactions, financial services regulation and regulatory compliance.
- Experience advising banks, regulated entities, investment funds or financial institutions would be highly valued.
- Excellent drafting, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage complex matters independently while thriving in a highly collaborative environment.
- Strong client-service mindset, sound commercial awareness and a high level of professional rigour.
- Fluent command of both French and English, written and spoken.
