When the green transition meets crew challenges
Our presence at the Monaco Yacht Show 2026, held from September 23 to 26, was once again an opportunity to discuss current crew management issues with many industry players. One thing is clear: yacht owners want above all to enjoy their vessel without being hindered by the constraints of managing and retaining their crew.
Yet yachting, whether private or commercial, is characterized by a high degree of internationalization. The choice of flag, home port, and the nationality of the owner and crew creates a legal complexity that owners do not want to handle themselves. The options are numerous: applicable employment law, appropriate social security regime (flag state scheme, private schemes, or multi-affiliation), with real litigation risks in case of poor decision-making.
An environmental dimension has now become central. Decarbonization requirements are increasing, and the eco-responsible approach of industry professionals directly impacts the crew. The Captain and crew will need to master new skills (route optimization, sustainable fuel management, eco-friendly refueling, etc.).
Energy transition and crew social management are now inseparable. Faced with this new complexity, professional support for yacht owners has become essential, particularly in managing their crews—whether at the time of boarding, during the contract, or upon its termination.
Yacht owners should be able to purchase their vessel and enjoy it with peace of mind. Our role, as industry professionals, is to help them achieve this goal by securing the entire legal and social framework related to their crew.
