Niels Koene is an advocaat in our Employment & Pensions Practice Area Group since 2011. He primarily represents national and international companies on both individual and collective labour law issues. ​

Niels' advisory work includes dismissal cases, co-determination, employment conditions, employee incentives, collective bargaining agreements, social security, transfer of undertakings and work permit issues. Niels also provides advice from a corporate employment law perspective, such as employees’ legal position in transactions and the managing director’s legal position vs. shareholders and the supervisory board.​

Niels has several publications in various professional journals under his belt and he regularly hosts workshops for clients.

  • Support and advice to an international retailer with day to day HR/employment matters, CBA interpretation questions, co-determination cases and drafting and reviewing of employment agreements, personnel handbook and company policies.
  • Advice to a leading high-tech multinational company, listed on Hong Kong Stock Exchange and Shenzhen Stock Exchange on several matters such as international assignment of expats, residence/work permits, termination of international assignment agreements and Dutch employment agreements of expats.
  • Support and advice to one of the worlds' leading hotel chains on restructuring their organization, including advice on collective dismissals, works council matters, social plan, settlement agreements and severance packages.
