Łukasz Szymański is an attorney-at-law, counsel and Head of the Financial Services Regulatory Team as part of the Banking & Finance Department at CMS Poland.
With nearly 20 years of experience, he advises banks, insurers, leasing and factoring companies, insurance agents, fintechs, investment firms and lending companies.
His practice focuses on the following areas, among others: banking law, insurance law (with particular emphasis on insurance distribution issues), financial market consumer protection (including consumer credit issues), AML & sanctions, payment services, leasing and factoring regulations, and process digitisation.
Łukasz is a mediator and arbitrator at the Court of Arbitration at the Polish Financial Supervision Authority. Łukasz is a graduate of Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw and also studied at the Faculty of Law at Péter Pázmány University in Budapest. For over a decade, he was a lecturer at the Department of Civil Law and Private International Law at Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University, where he taught mainly civil law and consumer protection. Łukasz is a member of AIDA (The International Insurance Law Association). As part of his work at the Polish FSA, Łukasz participated in the work of EIOPA, including in legislative projects related to PRIIPS and IDD2 regulations.
Before joining CMS, he worked at Deloitte Legal, Wardyński & Partners, K&L Gates, TaylorWessing, and the Polish Financial Supervision Authority.
Łukasz is a legal advisor and a member of the Warsaw Bar Association of Attorneys-at-Law.
