Sherman is a Singapore qualified Associate in the Technology, Media, Intellectual Property and Competition (TMIC) team at Holborn Law LLC, a member of the CMS Holborn Asia formal law alliance with CMS Singapore. He graduated from the Singapore Management University with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) in 2019 and was admitted to the Singapore Bar as an Advocate and Solicitor in 2020.

Sherman regularly advises on technology, media and telecommunication (TMT) matters from both a regulatory compliance and transactional perspective. His experience includes advising clients on their data protection and cybersecurity compliance, representing clients in data breach proceedings before the regulator, and advising and negotiating on technology transactions (e.g. software development contracts and SaaS licensing agreements).

Sherman also has experience advising and representing clients in both contentious and non-contentious intellectual property (IP) matters, including managing client’s global trademark portfolios, advising on IP commercialisation, acting for companies in relation to patent infringement proceedings, advising and/or coordinating trademark opposition and invalidation proceedings across multiple jurisdictions, as well as assisting companies in successfully taking down infringing goods on online platforms.

A government-owned company on various technology contracts with its vendors, including SaaS and database subscription agreements; IT and cybersecurity services agreements; and software design, development and maintenance contracts (e.g. robotic process automation software technology).
A healthcare company in negotiations for the development, deployment and maintenance of a multi-million-dollar national healthcare IT system for over 400 service recipients.
A technology company in the deployment of a solution allowing organisations to securely verify the digital health credentials (e.g. COVID-19 vaccination certificates).
A health and security services company on the management and prosecution of its global trademark portfolio spanning over 20 countries.

Regulatory Compliance and Advisory:

A tertiary university in relation to a ransomware attack on its servers and assisting in the regulatory action conducted by the Singapore personal data regulator; Reported decision of NUInternational Singapore Pte Ltd, Newcastle Research and Innovation Institute Pte Ltd [2021] SGPDPC 05.
