Our social impact

We are proud to contribute towards achieving the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, making a positive impact in our communities and supporting those who are working on solving social challenges.

We address some of these communities’ most pressing problems by applying our knowledge and experience through pro bono work, volunteering and creating partnerships with likeminded organisations.

Helping ensure healthy lives and promoting well-being for everyone

Médecins Sans Frontières
Globally, CMS partners with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). The international organisation provides emergency medical relief in areas racked by crisis, war and natural catastrophes. MSF helps people quickly, effectively and unbureaucratically, irrespective of their race, religion or political orientation.

Across CMS, we raise funds and carry out pro bono work to support the vital work that MSF is doing such as running clinics, building nutritional centres for children, initiating vaccination campaigns and providing refugees with medication, clean drinking water, sanitary facilities and blankets.

Fondation contre le Cancer
We support the Belgian Foundation against Cancer through financial support and pro bono legal advice.

Fondation contre le Cancer (Foundation against Cancer) helps increase the survival rate of cancer patients through scientific research. The foundation also provides counselling and advice to patients and their relatives, encourages the adoption of a healthy lifestyle, prevention and screening, lobbies public authorities to do more in the fight against cancer and encourages public involvement.

Fondation 101 Génomes
Fondation 101 Génomes, is a non-profit organization founded by the parents of a boy suffering from the rare Marfan Syndrome. The aim is to promote research by providing scientists with a cross-reference database containing genomic and phenotypic data from patients. We support the organization, by collecting funds through events, such as 10km of Uccle.

Arthur Forever
Since 2018 we have run the 20 km of Brussels in support of ARTHUR FOREVER, a non-profit organization created after one of our lawyers’ grandsons passed away as a result of meningitis. The NGO collects money to support scientific research regarding meningitis, to inform the public about organ and blood donations, to support les Docteurs Zinzins, etc.

Promoting an inclusive society with equal opportunities and decent work for all

Legal Diversity & Inclusion Alliance
CMS Belgium is a founding member of the Legal Diversity and Inclusion Alliance (‘LDIA’). Members of the Legal Diversity & Inclusion Alliance commit to building a diverse and inclusive workplace in which everyone benefits from equal treatment and opportunities, irrespective of race, ethnic or social origin, gender or sexual orientation, age, disability, language, religion, political preference or any other grounds of personal discrimination.

TADA (ToekomstATELIERdelAvenir)
TADA is an organization active in Brussels, where it reaches a thousand of socially vulnerable teenagers through a network that intensively coaches them during many years. Through their weekend schools and alumni network, TADA offers extra-scholarly activities that set the learning (-bar) high, while equally fostering the wellbeing of the child. Each year, a group of enthusiastic CMS lawyers and partners volunteer to give these teenagers an introduction into the legal profession. Through interactive sessions, for instance through active participation in mock trials, we aim to share our passion for the legal profession. We hope this will encourage people from all backgrounds to pursue a legal career, so that one day, they will join us and make our firm an even more diverse and inclusive workplace.
