Deven is an IP/IT/Data Protection & Privacy lawyer at CMS Belgium’s tech & data practice. In particular, Deven specializes in Information Technology law, Data Protection & Privacy, Cybersecurity, Telecom and Intellectual Property.
He advises national and international clients regarding all aspects of Data Protection, handling Cybersecurity incidents, drafting and negotiating IT contracts, Telecom projects/partnerships, outsourcing, connected cars and other local or global IT or e-commerce related projects.
As a technology lawyer, Deven has a special interest in Cybersecurity, Blockchains, Fintech-Insurtech, 3D Printing and Online Intermediaries.

Deven holds an LL.M. in IP and ICT law from the Catholic University of Leuven (Brussels) and obtained his Master of Laws degree at the University of Ghent.
Sinds 2019, he is a senior lecturer for the Executive Master in Law and Artificial Intelligence by the Brussels School of Competition/Artificial Intelligence with lectures focused on Smart Contracts and Blockchains.
He is also co-author of a book on Smart Contracts published by Intersentia in 2020.
Deven joined CMS’ tech & data practice in 2019, was admitted to the bar in 2016 and gained experience in the IP/IT departments of leading Belgian law firms.
