Friedrich von Burchard advises on energy law, regulation, renewable energies, in the upstream oil and gas sector as well as on managing stakeholders in complex energy and infrastructure projects. Having previously worked for several energy companies, he has long-standing in-house knowledge in German and European energy law, e.g. in the field of energy contract law, regulation and business processes in the electricity and gas industry, in all project and joint venture contracts in the upstream sector and in M&A transactions in the energy industry. His legal advisory work is complemented by regularly supporting his clients in dealing with public authorities on a German and European level.
Friedrich has been a partner since 2012. Prior to that, he worked in the energy industry: In 1989, he joined Ruhrgas AG where he subsequently held different positions within the company. From 2004 onwards, he headed E.ON AG’s regulatory management division. In 2008, he transferred to E.ON Ruhrgas AG to head the company’s energy regulation department. Until 2018 he was also the long-standing chairman of the German gas industry’s delegation that negotiates the Gas Cooperation Agreement and of the System User Committee of the European Association Eurogas.
