The American pharmaceutical group Johnson & Johnson sold the holding company McNeil Property and the company McNeil Manufacturing, which specializes in manufacturing over-the-counter drugs at the Orléans-La Source manufacturing plant and employs 480 employees, to the Famar Group, an European leader in subcontracting in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industry, which is already based in Orléans and is a subsidiary of the Greek Marinopoulos Group.
The two companies now owned by Famar will operate at McNeil Manufacturing’s Orléans-La Source plant, which will continue to manufacture the same range of over-the-counter drugs as a result of a manufacturing agreement entered into between the subsidiaries of the two groups.
For this deal, Johnson & Johnson was advised on legal and tax matters by Edouard Milhac, Partner, Alexandra Rohmert and Jean-Charles Daguin, Associates at CMS Bureau Francis Lefebvre. The major employment law aspects of the deal were handled by Dominique Mendy, Partner at Hogan & Hartson LLP.
