CMS Bureau Francis Lefebvre’s Africa team advised GBH Group in the acquisition of the Ivorian Automotive Distribution Company (SOCIDA), in Abidjan, from the Fadoul Group.
SOCIDA distributes Renault, Renault Trucks and Suzuki vehicles in Côte d'Ivoire.
GBH has been a partner of the Renault Group since 1988 and imports and distributes its vehicles in Martinique, Guadeloupe, Grench Guiana, Cuba and Réunion.
In the view of Nicolas de Pompignan, GBH Managing Director in charge of International Development, ‘The acquisition of SOCIDA by GBH is part and parcel of our group's development strategy in Africa. We have had a presence in Africa for the last seven years through our automotive business: in Algeria with the distribution of Citroen vehicles and Scania lorries; in Morocco with car hire activities within the Hertz franchise; in Ghana, with Renault Trucks and Mazda. We have also had a presence in Côte d’Ivoire for more than a year now, where we are developing banana production’.
