CMS Enhances its Presence in the Iberian Peninsula
CMS announces today that it has opened a new office in Barcelona, bringing the total number of CMS offices to 53. After Madrid and Seville, this move gives CMS a presence in Catalonia, one of Spain's most vibrant regions, which accounts for 30% of the country's exports. At present, CMS Albiñana & Suárez de Lezo has some one hundred lawyers, including 20 partners.
José María Rojí, 41, is in charge of the new Barcelona office. A member of the Barcelona Bar Association, José Maria holds a law degree from the University of Valencia, a Masters in Corporate Legal Advice and a diploma from the IESE Business School of Barcelona. He has considerable expertise in negotiating and carrying out mergers and acquisitions, with a special emphasis in real estate and insurance. He also has experience in commercial arbitration. José María came to CMS from Ernst & Young, which he joined in 1996. A Partner since 2007, he built up an impressive track record both in Spain and internationally in Corporate and Commercial Law. José María brings extensive experience in these practices, as well as a prestigious reputation in the Catalan law market through his participation in the Barcelona Bar Association, a teaching position at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (since 1999) and numerous publications. Commenting on the new opening, Cornelius Brandi, Chairman of the CMS Executive Committee said: “Spain is an important country for CMS’s development.
