CMS advises Holtzbrinck Networks GmbH and Verlagsgruppe Weltbild GmbH on the sale of bol.com to Cyrte Investments

CMS Derks Star Busmann and CMS Hasche Sigle have advised Holtzbrinck Networks GmbH and Verlagsgruppe Weltbild GmbH on their sale of all shares in the capital of HTW Medienhandel Holding GmbH, the German holding company of bol.com b.v. of Nieuwegein, the Netherlands, to Cyrte Investments of Naarden, the Netherlands.

Holtzbrinck and Weltbild are two large German publishing companies with, among others, participations in various internet enterprises. The sale of bol.com is driven by sellers' desire to concentrate further on their core activities.

Bol.com b.v. is the largest Dutch online retailer of books, music, DVDs, video games and electronics. Its 2008 turnover amounted to some EUR 224 million, and it currently has about 240 employees.

The CMS team was headed by corporate partners Dr. Thomas Meyding and Roman Tarlavski, and further comprised Dr. Barbara Wössner, Dr. Ralf Rose, Anne Meckbach, Jan Hansen, Christian Delgado, Chris van Amersfoort and Jan Willem Huizink (corporate); Robert Bosman, Dr. Harald Kahlenberg and Dr. Rolf Hempel (competition); Steffen Hagen and Menno Briët (IE/IT); Dr. Peter Ruby (banking and finance) and Katja van Kranenburg (employment).
