CMS advises the Province of Limburg on Schiphol's 40% stake in Maastricht Aachen Airport

CMS has advised the Province of Limburg on Schiphol Nederland B.V.'s 40% stake in N.V. Holding Businesspark Luchthaven Maastricht. Through this strategic cooperation, parties are committed to further developing Maastricht Aachen Airport into a sustainable, environmentally aware and future-proof airport for both passengers and cargo, with innovation and electric flying as key focus areas. Maastricht Aachen Airport is the second and only regional cargo airport in the Netherlands, making an important economic contribution.

In October 2022, Royal Schiphol Group, the Province of Limburg and Maastricht Aachen Airport concluded an in-principle agreement for cooperation. In December 2022, the Provincial Council of Limburg approved the cooperation and thus Schiphol's entry as a shareholder of Maastricht Aachen Airport. Both airports recognise the importance of cargo and a good connection worldwide. With the cargo capacity at Maastricht Aachen Airport and the expertise available at both airports, the cooperation offers opportunities for further development and efficiency, with added value for cargo partners at both airports. The airports will also exchange knowledge in other areas, such as strategy, real estate, commerce and maintenance.
