María Alejandra Frías is a senior associate in the Tax practice. She has more than eight years of professional experience advising companies and multinational groups on tax matters, tax planning, international taxation, and tax controversies.
Her practice focuses on proceedings before the Peruvian Tax Authority (SUNAT) and the Tax Court, administrative litigation, corporate reorganizations, tax structuring of corporate transactions, and specialized tax advice for companies across a wide range of industries, including financial services, banking, mining, industrial, retail, telecommunications, infrastructure, concessions, hydrocarbons, capital markets, and international investments.
María Alejandra has built a solid professional career at CMS Grau, where she has strengthened her expertise in tax advisory and tax litigation. Throughout her career, she has also been part of various law firms and international organizations. In addition, she served as Lead Analyst in the Tax Management area at BNY – The Bank of New York Mellon Corporation in London, providing specialized tax support for markets across Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Latin America.
She earned her law degree with honors from the University of Piura and holds an LL.M. in International Tax Law from King’s College London, graduating with merit. She is also actively involved in academia as a university lecturer and speaker on domestic and international tax law and has authored various specialized publications.
