Alvaro Portocarrero

Alvaro Portocarrero is an associate in the Tax practice at CMS Grau. His practice focuses on tax advisory and tax planning for companies across various sectors, with involvement in projects related to the financial industry, capital markets and cross-border transactions. He also has experience in tax due diligence for financing processes and M&A transactions, contributing to the identification of tax contingencies and the structuring of solutions aligned with business objectives. 

He actively participates in tax litigation proceedings at both administrative and judicial levels, as well as in tax audits, supporting document analysis, the preparation of response strategies and the handling of information requests before the Peruvian tax authority (SUNAT). His practice is complemented by research and support work in international taxation and transfer pricing, strengthening the technical approach to complex tax matters. 

Alvaro holds a Law degree from the University of Lima and a Master’s Degree in Tax Advisory from the University of Deusto (Spain). He also holds an International Diploma in Financial Law and Capital Markets from ESAN University, training that supports his technical approach to complex tax transactions and disputes.
