Karina Urquizo is a partner and co-leader of the Dispute Resolution practice at CMS Grau. With more than 22 years of experience in dispute resolution, she specializes in litigation and arbitration, covering civil, constitutional, administrative and commercial matters both nationally and internationally. Karina began her career at the Supreme Court, as counsel. She has also worked at renowned law firms in Peru and has been an arbitrator at the Lima Chamber of Commerce since 2016, participating in various arbitrations related to civil and commercial disputes.

Her academic background includes a specialisation in Law and Jurisdictional Policy from the Universidad de Castilla - La Mancha in Spain, a diploma in Legal Argumentation and Jurisdictional Function from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, and she is a candidate for a Master's Degree in Law with mention in Jurisdictional Policy at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú.

Karina's career also includes academic publications and speaking engagements at legal events, further consolidating her reputation in the Peruvian legal arena.

Telefónica S.A. (Spain) | Part of the team advising the company in the investment arbitration initiated against the Peruvian State, which is being processed before the ICSID.
Important Consortium | Advising a consortium in charge of executing a wastewater treatment plant in the district of Ventanilla, in arbitration and judicial proceedings.
Mall Plaza Perú | Advising the company in several judicial proceedings at national level, related to civil and commercial matters (in process).
LATAM Airlines Perú | Part of the team that advised the company in legal proceedings initiated by SUNAT, obtaining favorable rulings in the Supreme Court.
Instituto Toulouse Lautrec | Advised the company, obtaining a binding precedent from the Fifth Chamber of Constitutional and Social Law, based on article 19 of the Constitution, which declared that educational institutions should not pay taxes other than income tax.
LG Electronics | Part of the team that advised the company and achieved a pronouncement of the Supreme Court that applies the principle of substance over form to recognize a tax credit, even if it was registered late in the purchase ledger.
Peruvian Association of Insurance Companies (APESEG) | Advising in a popular action against sections of Administrative Directive No. 210-MINSA/DGSP, obtaining a favorable ruling from the Supreme Court that protected the contractual freedom between health institutions and insurers in determining the content of the letters of guarantee issued for the SOAT.
