Nicolás Carrion is an associate in the Dispute Resolution area at CMS Grau, providing expert counsel in civil procedural law, criminal procedural law, property law, constitutional law, and arbitration.

Nicolás specialises in the development and design of robust legal strategies to prevent and mitigate potential risks for clients. He has successfully advised companies in the mining, telecommunications, energy, and construction sectors on negotiations, transactions, litigation, and arbitration. His expertise extends beyond representing clients in civil and arbitral proceedings; he also advises on criminal investigations, defends in criminal proceedings, and designs procedural strategies aimed at preventing and resolving disputes in these areas. Additionally, he has experience in social conflicts and the judicial clearance of rural and urban properties.

Nicolás holds a Law degree from Universidad de Lima, graduating with distinction, and a Master’s in Negotiation, Mediation and Conflict Resolution from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M). He completed intrajudicial mediation training at the Courts of First Instance and Preliminary Investigation in Getafe and Leganés, within the Community of Madrid, Spain. In addition, he regularly speaks at specialised conferences on procedural law and arbitration.

  • Minera Las Bambas | Civil and criminal procedural advice for the protection and recovery of the project area of the Las Bambas mining site, valued at USD 1 billion.
  • Compañía de Minas Buenaventura | Procedural advice for the protection of the land area of the San Gabriel mining project, covering approximately 1,000 hectares. Gold Fields La Cima | Procedural advice for the protection of the land area of the Cerro Corona mining project.
  • Lumina Copper | Procedural advice on the regularisation of more than 240 hectares of the Galeno mining project.
  • Open Plaza | Advice in the arbitration process initiated by the former owners of the Open Plaza (Huancayo Shopping Centre) properties.
