International law firm CMS has advised the international financial institution, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), and the development finance institution, the United States’ International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), on the USD 480m financing provided together with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) for MHP Food UK Limited. This significant amount of funding will help the company boost the Ukrainian agribusiness sector, strengthen global food security, and grow sustainable power generation capacity, reducing its carbon footprint.

MHP Food UK Limited (formerly known as Braintree Meats Limited MHP) is the largest producer and exporter of chicken in Ukraine and the leading producer of poultry meat in Europe.

DFC is America’s development finance institution that invests in energy, healthcare, critical infrastructure and technology, providing financing for small businesses and female entrepreneurs in order to create jobs in emerging markets.

EBRD is owned by 72 countries. A defined set of standards governs all its work as it strives to develop a healthy investment climate and promote environmentally and socially sound and sustainable development.

CMS's Banking and Finance team was the documentation counsel to EBRD and DFC and advised on all English law aspects of the transaction. The CMS team was led by Warsaw-based Rafał Zakrzewski, solicitor and partner, with support from Evgeniy Vazhynskiy, senior associate.
